Brainobrain USA Grand Launch

April 3rd, 2009

I came in touch with Brainobrain some time towards the end of 2008. I heard about this brand and its program of skill development using advanced abacus a lot in India. Out of inquisitiveness I started studying this and found that this can provide strong foundation to children in NJ. The skill development program from Brainobrain appeared to be highly enriching in nature when I looked at several videos online for demonstrations etc especially at You tube. It was amazing to see small children doing mental algorithm so fast. Then I decided to discuss with my wife about this opportunity to check with her if she is still interested into education business, which was her forte once upon a time back in India..

My wife had been always into kids education and she readily agreed to venture out into education. Initially we thought to start with a family friend Ruma with the thought to have a small center…..however sooner it started filling so much of confidence in us that we thought to provide the services to mass at large.

There were three strong reasons to get so much enthusiastic about this
1. Lots of focus is coming these days on kids education
2. Fundamentally this is a very sound concept and appeared to provide almost guaranteed results
3. This is about giving back to society, so quite filling in nature. I would say it can bring closer to self actualization which any one looks especially from NRIs in USA after a stage.

So we decided to move fast, strongly and confidently for this. More & more people started helping into this besides Ruma & her husband Kamal Deep. So my wife as a representative of Brainobrain in USA started operations of USA Master Franchisee.

Now the time has come for launch after work of several months

You are invited to join the grand launch of Brainobrain USA. This is at

YMCA Oaktree Road, Edison NJ
Date: April 5, 2009 Time: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

We are encouraging every one to come and see the concept. We will provide services at very reasonable prices and initially lots of free classes. I had strongly recommended team to not to look at the price part for initial few years but to prove back to society that its worth investing time into it.

Hope this will be journey of mutual win for parents as well as kids. Of course we are hoping to generate lots of employment opportunities for people around especially for part time training.

Hindi Classes at Iselin, NJ

November 2nd, 2008

Never thought in my childhood that Hindi would become alien’s language for my kids at home. We never noticed slowly English had become the means of communication for my kids at home while we were often maintaining Hindi as a spoken language at home. Last time when my wife and kids visited India my son had tremendous problems in dealing with my parents and other relatives. My son could not understand most of conversation with them and he did not know Hindi text since can not write Hindi. Overall this was not a pleasant experience for me. When my wife came back we thought to start Hindi Classes for my kids.

Another shock came when my wife’s brother told that one of his friend at Accenture came back from London to India after several years. He had to take 3 months off from his job to teach Hindi to his children. As his friend found that his children can not survive in higher standards of Hindi course because they could not even read the Hindi. So the situation was an high alert situation and before start of session he wanted to bring his children up to some level where they can at least attend the Hindi classes. He had no alternative but to feed them with Hindi….starting from alphabets to literature every thing at one shot.

Overall this was an lesson for me also as we are also planning to move back at some point of time. So why not to start now…..

But how to keep this as a regular activity my wife suggested to pull kids of our family friends too. Slowly this thought turned into a formal regular activity and now we would like to pull this activity on and on……

If you are also feeling the same about your kids then you are most welcome.

Please

    register your child at nj@bharatshiksha.org

Initially we started activity at home …but now starting Hindi teaching at one commercial place at Green Street 734 to shape this as a more formal and away from home environment. Volunteers are most welcome and of course….your suggestions too are precious…. One more things its free !!!

How can we pay back the debt of our martyrs?

January 7th, 2007

A valiant officer Colonel G S Sarna , who always led by examples as remembered by his seniors and colleagues died a hero’s death on 23rd December 2006. He fought very bravely against terrorists in a village of Kashmir and would always be remembered for his bravery disregard whether we walk through the road which has been renamed on his name or not.

He happened to be a cousin of my ex colleague. When my colleague sent a mail on him (pasted here below or please see comment 1 for full details ) it shook me completely. However a proud feelings on such Indian army, especially on such heroes was also reinforced along with sorrow feelings too at my heart because of great loss to us. Such kind of persons should live more and should exist every where in country so as to solve the problem of corruption, immorality etc just like our filmy heroes in Indian Movies. As they always dare to stop evil powers to take command of situation, which is what happening everywhere today all around the nation.

Mail which I had received from Harmeet Singh (Read full in comment1)

My Cousin(Mamaji elder son)- Colonel G.S. Sarna, was posted in Pattan, Jammu and Kashmir. He was a Colonel and was the commanding officer of 29 Rashtriya Rifles there.

On 23rd December during a routine Search operation in Village Behrampur, Baramulla, his men were searching the village for militants who were hiding there.

They had completed the search op. and after that reported back to Col G.S. Sarna that there were no militants in the area, after which he himself went for an inspection of the houses. He was a very brave man and even after being a Colonel always used to lead his men from the front.

He entered a house only with 2 of his bodyguards and looked around. He saw some grass lying around there, and instructed his men to look under it, under that was a secret hideout , where the militants were hiding, there was a small door(Phatta) under the grass, he told his men to lift it so that he can check under it. But as and when the phatta was lifted , a militant waiting under it fired a burst (15-16 rounds) from his AK-47 at him, out of which 6 bullets hit him, 1 on his hand, 1 on the shoulder , 2 in lower abdomen, and 2 on his ankles, and the rest hit the other 2 men.

Despite being badly wounded and bleeding profusely from his stomach, which now had a big hole in it, he fired back at the militant killing him instantly,

You can visit some of his photographs at following link http://www.greatindianwealth.com/articles/colgssarna.html

Can we pay back the debt of such great soles?. We are proud of such martyrs but can our politicians really wake up from such jolts so that such sacrifices should not go waste?. Does this ring bells anywhere?.

Kashmir problem is running on & on since long. We keep showing Pak occupied Kashmir as a part of our nation just to camouflage ourselves. Politicians never dared to have a focused planning & actions for this issue. As it is sensitive to their vote bank and probably for their continuation in power too (as it may affect from global political perspective too which could be another debate..but surely we can not just wait for an external solution or help). Even in Indian part, autonomy to military is subject to questions. If they would have tried with sincerity not just as a face saving during crisis situation, solution might have emerged by now. But because of lack of will which led to procrastination, situation has become very bad. This delay in strong actions earlier gave chance terrorists to grow their roots a lot into the local houses also. Which made the task now very difficult as local people (by will or by force) also support such activities. Other locals such as Kashmiri Pandits had already been kicked out from state strategically by these evil powers or enemy nation.

This reminds me few lines of Shaheed Bhagat Singh which apply in context of will power and decision making of our previous and present governments…….it is from book what Shaheed Bhagat Singh wrote in Jail….

“Time is an important factor in politics. It is thousand times more so in war and revolution. Things can be done today that cannot be done tomorrow. To raise in arms to defeat the enemy , to seize power, may be possible today and tomorrow may be impossible. But, you will say , to seize power means changing the course of history; is it possible that such a thing can depend on a delay of 24 hours? Even so, when it comes to an armed insurrection, events are not measured by long yards of politics but by short yards of war. To lose a few weeks , a few days , sometimes even one day , may mean giving up the revolution , may mean capitulation.

Political cunning is always dangerous , especially in a revolution . You may deceive the enemy, but you may confuse the masses who are following you.”
and another from the letter written to Governer of Punjab though this was in context of independence from Britain however equally applies against the evil powers against us……including internal corrupted people.

“…… Let us declare that the state of war does exist and shall exist so long as the Indian toiling masses and the natural resources are being exploited by a handful of parasites. They may be purely British Capitalist or mixed British and Indian or even purely Indian. They may be carrying on their insidious exploitation through mixed or even on purely Indian bureaucratic apparatus.”

I am sure if you will read the below certification of death of Shaheed Bhagat Singh you will also cry but our country is fortunate we still see similar courageous people in todays time also, who look nation before their family. Col G S Sarna kept fighting against terrorists till last and recalled his 5 year son only on the way to hospital at the time of his last breadth not before. He did not care about himself or his family even once for the brave acts. It reminds me a lot Shaheed Bhagat Singh who objectively chosen the path of death to motivate people of India and to fuel the revolution. He himself requested British Government to shoot him as a treatment to a war prisoner (he would have thought that it might ignite the spark better in country…above lines were from that letter). Many salutes to these people. Even death word never deterred them from their objective of fighting r our “Vande Maatram” ……

CERTIFICATE OF EXECUTION OF THE DEATH SENTENCE

Seal of the
Judicial Department

I hear by certify that the sentence of death passed on Bhagat Singh has been duly executed, and that the said Bhagat Singh was accordingly hanged by the neck till he was dead, at Lahore Central Jail on Monday, the 23rd day of March, 1931, at 7 p.m., that the body remained suspended for a full hour, and was not taken down until life was ascertained by a medical officer to be extinct; and that no accident, error or other misadventure occurred

Superintendent of the Jail
Sd. Illegible

Shaheed Bhagat Singh never defended himself to get released from charges during trial even if he might have chances. Rather he fought with his father for filing a petition to British government for his release as he was waiting for hanging to revolutionize more. That letter , sent to his father was also published later.

Shahedon ki chitaon pe lagenge har varsh mele,
Watan pe mitne waalon ka yahe baaki nishaan hoga

History repeats itself again and again in our country and now Col G S Sarna bravely had asked the path of death as it was for nation and it was necessary to keep the motivation of his unit personnel and of over all military & in turn country to fight against terrorists. Hope we can keep remembering such sacrifices and I think that feelings itself will bring some kind of reforms in our attitude & towards well being our country. I think more reminders should be sent to people on these acts as a tool of motivation and more people should know. I am sure it will make some change in the attitude of people if we keep the flame of good words alive by remembering the martyrs always and probably it will bring some improvements in our government machinery also. As they are afterall people only. So somewhere this people affect should play role in positive way rather than existing state of minds when we have almost forgotten such sacrifices.

Ae Mere Vatan ke logon, jara Aankh me bharlo paani.
Jo Saheed hue hain unki, jara yaad karo kurbaani.

I hope to see some more comments here as a mark of tributes to our Hero Col G S Sarna and to such similar soles of past. I would also request to pass on this to as many people as possible and keep the flame alive so that our children should also know our martyrs.
I would also like to see some suggestions which we can implement to make a good start such as creation of ‘Nationwide strong Martyrs Children Education fund NGO – ofcourse without any cut of administration cost of donations to avoid any abuse’ irrespective whether family is in need or not but to provide an option to all sons and daughters of these martyrs in case of need. Its a thought and let others share on this first.

My Salute to Shaheed Col G S Sarna
My Salute to his family for giving such a son, brother or husband to nation
My Salute to all our military for giving numerous sacrifices which might have gone even unnoticed

Education to every Indian Child and our reservation system

November 26th, 2006

Hello,

I am inviting all of you to share your views on this topic. We have come so far and achieved so much but still our poor are relatively not receiving the benefit of all that progress of country. I feel biggest reason is education. Education makes a person capable to grow, to receive the fruits of development better. If they would be capable , the resources & benefit of country progress would flow towards them too. So its a kind of catch 22 situation. This point of time some external factors can help to start wheel rolling on. This external factor can be either government or even all of us who are capable in together form to provide significant benefits.

I think existence of education institutions in any area builds a kind of energy center in that area. Which drives the economy of that area. Larger the number institutions or better the quality of these bigger the potential of growth in that area. Some times area itself may not be having high level of education however from efforts of government or from private sector, if there comes an energy center then cycle of making that area as a stronger and stronger energy center starts rolling on. This brings awareness among people to learn more and more. Some times this process can be started from different way. You educate people they themselves become aware of fruits of education and make 10 others aware. Initially they may work in other areas but prosperity certainly comes in that area. This area on broader perspective is country and smaller perspective cane be any thing. Ultimately education plays a key role in overall economy of that area.

Being a member of alumni egroup of my institute, few weeks before I noticed that lot of brainstorming was taking place on Indian caste based reservation system in my egroup. So many good suggestions and ideas were flowing in group. Which triggered my thinking to capture and record all those thoughts just like archiving some valuable information which is preserved with the notion that this may be required in future for any important decisions. Who knows archiving of our thoughts and suggestions may also be used for future decisions. Often we do brain storming on such important national issues and it remains confined to within our small group of people. It could be a good idea that such brainstorming should be shared with large mass through internet ( to make full use of internet for a good cause) so as to spread the awareness and to stimuli the thought process of others also to participate in such main stream issues. These debates on national issues should be through the appropriate forums so that if needed some one can find atleast place where he or she can look at. May be after few years it starts ringing bells in government corridors too and they may like to refer to such debates to know the potential solutions.

Even if it is far distant vision then also I would say since such debates are for the better cause so people should be encourage to provide their opinion on this and a big picture view of overall public should be available through such mediums. I have attached one survey also for you to participate and vote for or against reservation in institutes for professional qualifications. You can vote and post your comments here.

Issue certainly took heat time to time but government shows indifferent attitude as it affects their vote bank. This is pinching that they do not want to have open debates too on this issue. No one says that remove caste based reservation completely all of sudden and bring another kind of reservation. Probably this should be a gradual move. Elite groups such as doctors, engineers or IIMs alumni etc every one wants to come forward to participate for a healthy debate to help government to arrive at some rational decisions. So government should use academic elites to solve the people’s problems rather than carrying the present scene when many people are crying or frustating while few others from the creamy layer of same class are enjoying the privileges. This is a big national issue as it affects common person’s family on regular basis. This always remains in back of mind when children of home grows, when they start applying for professional qualifications, when they start applying for jobs. If the family is poor and belongs to upper caste then they simply curse their own country for discrimination. So in a way it causes rift between different sections of society.

Is this what we wanted for our country?.

Was reservation started with the aim that it will keep increasing in %age even if our country progress in overall terms?. If reservation helped then why the percentages and areas of reservation were increased rather than reducing that (as these many years are enough to provide relief to poor based on caste now its time to look poors without any caste boundary). I think this helped but now slowly we should be forward looking and should start reducing %ages just like the removal of government protection to industries to make them standing on thier feet in free and competitive world.

Would we be able to remove the poverty of one section of castes completely? If the aim is to remove the poverty of lower castes first before looking into poverty prevailing among upper caste people then question is ‘is this achievable?’ If not then why this is increasing and increasing. What is the rationale behind that. We all know why it is increasing but let government should come out in public to debate on this.

Shouldn’t reservation be handled as a tool to balance out the poverty (as completely removal of poverty is impossible among lower caste or any caste or any group of society per se) among people based on caste, income or geography etc but based on many rational parameters not on just one caste based parameter and carrying on that factor always?

Why hounourable Supreme Court does not interfere in this social issue?. Can any one provides some inputs why?. As a protector of common law of land (basis of our constitution) I have seen in past that on social issues even Supreme Court had interferred and issued directives and guidelines to government. What happens in this issue when so many people self immolated and sat on hunger strike.

Lets keep discussing on this topic and keep this alive till we do not reach to a solution and government adapts that solution. Hope I would see some comments from you.

Back to education I invite people to share their view on this topic specially on ‘What could be best ways to benefit our poor in terms of their access to education?’.

Also I would like to know how to set up a NGO and how the article of association is prepared for NGO. I think small small efforts in local areas are more effective than making or relying on a giant which becomes administrative burden. So my aim for this is in my area first and joining hands/ sharing hands with other like minded people to exchange the benefits of experiences.

This platform is to share news and views on this topic. Please feel free to post your comments or any news which you think is relevant to topic. Thanks.

Thanksgiving day shopping maniac

November 25th, 2006

Not only discounts are offered by big malls to attract customer but also big stores distribute free gifts for early morning customers. Reason is what every one knows & its simple i.e.to attaract crowd however little mircodetails

– Almost every customer has some prethought set of items to look for
– Some wants to do window shopping to pick up any good deal on any of items though usually in some broad segments such as electronics or computers
– Whatever it is every one has a budget and spending capacity. Challenge for stores is to secure this budget from maximum no of customers. So how to secure & lock that at the begining before customer really tries around. Catch the desire young…….
– But they would not be successful unless there is enviornment of excitement which stimulates the notion of opportunity loss in customers or visitors if they would not grab things faster. In this process most of times customer are ready to buy luxuries or not required things just because they think its cheaper today.

I analyzed when I myself caught in this game. I got a call at night from my one of friends, he suggested to go early morning tomorrow for one store to look for some good deals. I did not require any thing but since had not done some major shopping for last many days so thougt to look around any good items around in store. Moreover store was giving gift card at the time of entry (but to early visitors only see my point above). This was told him by one of his friend, so you can imagine a publicity wheel was already rolling on (word of mouth publicity).

Anyway we planned and I requested him to wake me up as soon as he gets up. He gave a call at sharp 4 and I managed to reach there some how at 4:45am. morning queue was long ….obvious thing. Anyway when we reached inside after waiting period of another 45 min (I think either they delayed opening time or they had like that only, I am not sure) people were running here and there. Staff was kind of running as if practicing olympiad. But to me except few things I found prices for most of things were not so lucrative. Still I thought atleast prices must not be crazy today I guessed must be reasonable or rather best among all other days. So I tried to figure out things which I could have ever thought to buy and bought 3-4 things and came out happily. Later my wife asked me to shop for few things more from other mall. Luckily I visted other mall and notices almost same things at least 10-30% cheaper.

So the lesson 1 is never get caught in any of promotion gimmick.

Plan your shopping before is lesson 2

Decide prices before for your items which you are ready to shell out for those items and the budget if you intend to do window shopping. Better do home work before and carry some base prices to compare.

As abroad we have some flexibility to return things so I bought things again having high prices and return back at first place. But what I could not get back is my early morning pains and loss of sleep. Night I slept again with one crocin tablet……
